Applicants will be submitted to the hospital for the assignments and, once accepted, must attend an orientation session. The schedule for this would be 12 hour shifts with both day and night assignments available.

MDS Coordinator – Full Time Position (Honolulu)

 

Kahu Malama Nurses has a full-time opening for an MDS Coordinator at a long term care facility.  The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. The MDS Coordinator must be an effective member of the resident care team and work with an interdisciplinary team for their knowledge and expertise in providing care to the residents. The MDS Coordinator will be accountable and responsible for the coordination and care of their assigned residents/families.  They must be advocates of providing individualized and quality of care to residents and in concert with the needs of the facility.  They must be assertive and professional with their communication and keep the Director of Nursing informed of staff that is not following through with their duties and responsibilities.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • Hawaii State RN License in good standing
  • First Aid and CPR (AHA)
  • 3 years of experience in LTC Setting
  • Previous supervisory experience
  • 2 step TB clearance
  • Vaccination Records
  • At least 3 Supervisor References

Skills/knowledge:

  • Must be detail oriented and be able to multitask, prioritize and organize the many needs of residents, families and the facility
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
  • Must have previous experience in a medical setting and familiarity with long term care and social service procedures.
  • Able to handle residents based on whatever functional level they are currently at
  • Possess leadership abilities, patience, tact and a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm
  • Must be proficient with MS office products, such as Word and Excel.
  • Demonstrates autonomy, organization, assertiveness, flexibility and cooperation in performing job responsibilities
  • Must be able to read and write English to facilitate proper communication with others

The schedule for this position is Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.; Thursday and Saturday 8:00 a.m. – noon and off the last Saturday of the month. This a great position for an experienced CMA who is able to work with minimal supervision and has strong attention to detail. This is a back office position with experience in EKG’s, charting, checking patients in and out for visits, checking vital signs, assisting the doctor and office staff as needed.

Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – OBGYN

Kahu Malama Nurses has a new opening for a CMA to work at an OBGYN clinic. This is a great position for an experienced CMA who is able to work with minimal supervision and has a strong attention to detail.

POSITION SUMMARY: The person in this position carries out daily operations including reception, scheduling, transcription and assisting patients and physicians with clerical activities. The CMA will also assist the physician with patient care and maintain daily clinic operations when the practice manager is not available.

DUTIES INCLUDE:

  • Prepares, stocks and cleans exam rooms
  • Take vital signs
  • Assist physician as directed including retrieving supplies, medications, comforting patients and assisting during procedures
  • Organizes charts and verify patient information
  • Completes lab order forms and obtains necessary signatures
  • Obtains blood draw from patients when needed
  • Informs physician of patient requests and phone calls
  • Checks and maintains inventory of supplies
  • Greets, receives and welcomes patients
  • Assures cleanliness and orderliness of reception and waiting rooms
  • Obtains Information release authorization form from patients
  • Notifies patients and obtains appropriate waivers as necessary
  • Obtains accurate insurance and demographic information from patients, checks eligibility.
  • Registers patients in the electronic registration system
  • Takes messages and assures prompt delivery of messages
  • Schedules patients for clinic location
  • Schedules patients for ancillary procedures as required

REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • CPR certification
  • At least one year of CMA experience; Prefer three years of experience medical assisting in an OBGYN office
  • TB Clearance

The schedule for this assignment is Monday — Friday from 8:00 am — 5:00 pm. However, hours may sometimes be adjusted to accommodate clinic needs. This assignment is expected to last at least 3 months.
