Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) – OBGYN


Kahu Malama Nurses has a new opening for a CMA to work at an OBGYN clinic. This a great position for an experienced CMA who is able to work with minimal supervision and has a strong attention to detail.

POSITION SUMMARY: The person in this position carries out daily operations including reception, scheduling, transcription and assisting patients and physicians with clerical activities. The CMA will also assist the physician with patient care and maintain daily clinic operations when the practice manager is not available.


  • Prepares, stocks and cleans exam rooms
  • Take vital signs
  • Assist physician as directed including retrieving supplies, medications, comforting patients and assisting during procedures
  • Organizes charts and verify patient information
  • Completes lab order forms and obtains necessary signatures
  • Obtains blood draw from patients when needed
  • Informs physician of patient requests and phone calls
  • Checks and maintains inventory of supplies
  • Greets, receives and welcomes patients
  • Assures cleanliness and orderliness of reception and waiting rooms
  • Obtains Information release authorization form from patients
  • Notifies patients and obtains appropriate waivers as necessary
  • Obtains accurate insurance and demographic information from patients, checks eligibility.
  • Registers patients in the electronic registration system
  • Takes messages and assures prompt delivery of messages
  • Schedules patients for clinic location
  • Schedules patients for ancillary procedures as required.


  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Certified Medical Assistant
  • CPR certification
  • At least one year of CMA experience; Prefer three years of experience medical assisting in an OBGYN office

The schedule for this assignment is Monday — Friday from 8:00 — 5:00. However, hours may sometimes be adjusted to accommodate clinic needs. This assignment is expected to last at least 3 months.

Kahu Malama Nurses is looking for an experienced Administrative Assistant to work at our corporate office in the Ala Moana area of Honolulu. The company is busy staffing agency in the healthcare industry and has been serving Hawaii for 35 years. We need a versatile employee who is capable of communicating with and supporting company executives as well other administrative employees, field staff and clients across the state.

The person in this role will also provide backup support for various departments in our office including Human Resources, Staffing and Accounting. The ideal candidate is someone who is capable of working in either a team atmosphere or independently, able to take direction from supervisors and flexible to adjust to changing priorities.

Administrative tasks will include:

  • Pre-screening job candidates and scheduling appointments
  • Entering candidates in database
  • Conducting background screenings and background checks
  • Credentialing employees for job assignments
  • Posting job openings on job boards, websites and social media
  • Document creation and editing
  • Document copying, scanning, faxing, mailing and filing
  • Scheduling, planning and organizing special projects assignments with clients and staff

  • Receptionist duties for breaks or vacation coverage


  • Prior experience working in an office setting
  • College degree preferred
  • Previous experience in Human Resources
  • Previous experience or knowledge of the healthcare industry highly desirable
  • Ability to meet deadlines, prioritize, organize and multi-task daily
  • Knowledge and experience with various social media platforms (i.e. Facebook, Twitter)


  • PC software skills including knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office programs (Outlook, Word, Excel) and ability to quickly learn other software programs relevant to the position
  • Excellent oral and verbal communication skills plus organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to perform work with speed and accuracy

Medical Assistant (Front Office) – Temp-to-Hire Opportunity

Medical AssistantKahu Malama Nurses is looking for a Medical Assistant with Front Office experience to work in a private practice in the Ala Moana area of Honolulu. This is a temp-to-hire position and is a great opportunity for someone looking for permanent placement. Candidates must be currently living in the Honolulu area.

The main role of this Medical Assistant position is overall management of the clinic/physician schedule. Other duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and referring physicians
  • Answer scheduling telephone lines and triaging incoming calls.
  • Build and maintain schedule for clinic sites.
  • Schedule patients.
  • Request requisition, labs and other miscellaneous documents as needed.
  • Enter patients into Phoenix and eCW databases prior to clinics.
  • Check all requisitions received against schedule for appropriate/accurate scheduling.
  • Electronic chart management
  • Prep electronic charts for clinics including the following: Demographic information, insurance information, verify patient insurance eligibility before patient’s scheduled appointment date.
  • Eligibility verification is required for each visit with the exception of NST patients which should be done monthly. Use online/telephone resources.
  • Call referring physician office/patient as needed.
  • Document/initial verification complete. If unable to verify, flag patient so medical assistant can follow up with patient when she presents for appointment.
  • Relevant clinical information such as Prenatal Labs, Lab reports and Ultrasound reports
  • Maintain digital fax inboxes/outboxes.
  • Assists with other office duties/special projects as needed.

Requirements include:

  • At least one year of experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Knowledge of Medical Terminology
